Our Productions

Pic 11We were delighted by the verve, skill and professionalism shown by all our students in the end of year productions in July.

As you will no doubt remember We enjoyed an exciting few weeks when we were informed that the Merlin Theatre (which had hosted all of our previous productions) was to be closed after the discovery of asbestos in the building. Thankfully, after a frantic search, we were able to relocate to the Montgomery Theatre on Surrey Street. The standard of performance was consistently high in all of the productions. Do take some time to look for photos . Our youngest students appeared in “The Grasshopper and the Ants”, other primary aged students appeared in either “Fancy That” or “Fiesta in Triesta” and our Youth Theatre students performed in “The Legend of Tim Sandy”.

Pic 12News of our 2010 productions will be appearing soon!

We award certificates, medals and trophies to children who have committed to the classes for a year or more.  Last summer several students were awarded a gold medal in acknowledgement of their attendance for five years...as classes in Sheffield only started five years ago, this means that they have been with us since we started!

Are teachers CRB checked?

Yes, all teachers must have an enhanced CRB search.

Who teaches the classes?

Pic 14The Principal, Nick Chadwin teaches nearly all of the classes. Nick was a full time actor before joining the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy; he has appeared on TV and on film but has always been committed to the performance of live theatre. You may have seen Nick performing in a variety of roles from King Lear to mr Toad! He has also written extensively for the theatre and developed many workshops while touring with Sheffield’s own sadly missed Compass Theatre Company.

Nick is often helped in class and especially around production time by Mary Chadwin. In earlier lives Mary has demonstrated her creativity as an actress, an artist and as a teacher. This creativity has recently been demonstrated by her designs for many of the costumes in July’s productions.
